SourceXT™ is the gateway to
your Visual SourceSafe™ (VSS) files over the Internet.
Microsoft Visual SourceSafe
has
long been a popular choice
for source code control and general document management purposes.
As corporate cultures and product development processes evolve, it is common now
to have people from different geographic locations sharing source code and other
files when working on
projects. SourceSafe is designed primarily for project teams on a local
area network. This is
where SourceXT can help. With SourceXT, you can access your SourceSafe
files from anywhere in the world, as long as you have an Internet connection.
A good example is, you have a
five-person team working on a software development project in your home office in
Chicago, using SourceSafe as you source control system. Now you find
several
talents (one in Seattle and three in India) that are necessary to complete your
product on time. How do you share your project files with them? The
answer is SourceXT.

Based on the latest Microsoft .NET technology, SourceXT is the most fully-featured, robust, and fast
product
commercially available. It has a
Server and a Client portion.
The Server controls access to SourceSafe databases by living on the same LAN as
the VSS computers. To the Internet world, the Server functions as a Web
Service that provides and receives data to and from its Clients. The
Client portion is a user friendly Windows application that works like a file
explorer. It communicates to the Server for most of your source control
needs. With a user interface similar to the
SourceSafe explorer, you will find yourself right at home.
If your project uses SourceSafe and involves sharing files with people beyond
your local area network, you can benefit from our technology. Use
SourceXT.
